Positives, Negatives & On The Fence

My husband and I like to camp without electricity, it's just a personal preference as we like to remove ourselves from the modern world every once and a while! Plus it's fun seeing what we can cook up on our gas powered Cadac! Woodland Waters has the option for both EHU and non EHU for both tents and Campers/Caravans which is nice, however from a personal stand point I would say the following:

Negatives

- The 2x shower blocks, wash area and water supply are quite far away from the non EHU tenting area , normally this wouldn't be an issue but if you are caught short at 2am and need to go to the toilet its quite a trek to get there in time!

- The geese onsite defecate literally everywhere. There are ALOT of geese around the campsite Greylag and Canada types it's nice to have wildlife around and on site but it isn't nice to see their feces litter the floor. We spent a good 10-15 mins clearing our tent site before we pitched.

- No ice pack freezer that we could see. Without electricity it was a bit of a mission to keep our food adequately cold for 3 days.

- There is no onsite shop. This is a little frustrating as we couldn't buy ice from anywhere and the small convenience shop out the front of the campsite was limited and had no ice.

Positives

- The scenery on and around the site is literally breathtaking and changes throughout the day. From where our tent was you could see the sunrise every morning and when walking the dog of an evening you could catch the sunset from the other side of the lake.

- Dog foul bins are everywhere. This is nice because if you need to walk your dog quickly, you don't have to walk very far in order to do so.

- Fishing positions around the 14 acre lake. There are positions every 10-20 yards from each other. Some on a little wooden pier, some on the grass open bans, some enclosed in the trees where is something for everyone.

- You don't have to trek to find/buy your fishing license for the day. The bailiff comes round and charges you (cash) for your days fishing, it cost us £6 each for 1 rod and we could sigh until 10pm.

- Very friendly staff. It really does make the difference!

On The Fence

- Noise. I can't really say this is a negative because you get all types of people on camp sites and also dependent on what time of year you go (school holidays etc) however people courtesy of others around them leave a lot to be desired.

- People's general behavior to be policed a little better. We had some very loud teenagers where we were who had a bike which they drove too fast on and were playing trance music out of their car at gone 11pm at night, they also vomited next to our tent so I would say that this wasn't the highlight of our stay.

- Shower blocks, again I think this is more people's inability to be clean themselves! However the staff keep the communal areas very clean and tidy. I would like to see maybe a few more hooks in the cubicles and a bigger stool/bench to put things on.
